I had a wonderful interaction with one of the DJ’s at our local radio station, KZSU, today. I heard an awesome song on the radio (I’ll get there) and, since KZSU is on my speed-dial, called in to talk about it. I was driving at the time, so I felt a little bad about talking on the phone, but persisted nonetheless because I was so excited about the song.
I got through to the DJ, Holt Sorenson (hsomusic.com), who said he’d e-mail me the name of the song. When I got back later tonight, I found out that he e-mailed me a whole mini-essay on the nature of his mixes, where he buys his music and where I might find more interesting stuff to download.
If that wasn’t good enough, the song was almost as good as I had remembered! Here it is: Crack El (Justin Martin’s Stoopit Crunk Ill Hyphy Mix) by Worthy:
The other major thing I did today was start the process of creating order from chaos in our apartment. We have a two bedroom apartment, and we used to have two people in my bedroom and one in the other bedroom. When the guy in the other bedroom moved out, we never had time to move anything to the other room, so it’s been totally vacant for the past two months or so. Today I finally had the time to disassemble our bed and reassemble it in the other room, put together IKEA furniture that’s been sitting unopened for weeks, and rearrange things. Our place is turning into something more than a pad to crash at night, and I’m hopeful that we might one day finally get a housewarming party going, though calling it that after having lived in our apartment for so long is somewhat embarrassing!
I’ve become so acclimated to living in dorms, which when you factor in your desk, bed, and drawers, don’t really have much space left to be creative with. Today I caught a glimpse of a life beyond cookie-cutter furniture and bland rooms, and I am sold!
As a totally random aside, while googling “I have seen the future”, I came across this article about how goths are going to take over the world.
